U.S. Patent Awarded for Hand Tracking in Upper Extremity Therapy

A Barron Associates, Inc. team, led by Dr. Rick Adams, was granted a U.S. patent US11,696,704 B1 on July 11, 2023, for a “System, device and method for tracking the human hand for upper extremity therapy.” The patent covers key aspects of the Glove Rehabilitation Application for Stroke Patients (GRASP) developed under NIH SBIR Phase II grant 5R44HD088189. These include a unique sensing system, sensor mounting device, and virtual reality system that can be used in stroke therapy.
