Electronic Classroom Observation Tool Update
In July 2015, Barron Associates developed for a University of Virginia professor a graphical computerized instrument that records, quantifies, and characterizes teacher performance in special education classrooms. The instrument has been very well received and it has since been distributed across the country for use in research and school district evaluations. The education tool has been presented at three conferences and other meetings, is featured in three pending journal manuscripts, and is an active subject of research by several students in their doctoral theses. Most recently, we have been invited to author a book chapter describing the development of the instrument (to be published in “Advances in Special Education Technology”; Dave Edyburn, editor). A multi-year grant proposal is currently being authored to expand the development and validation of the tool, including multi-center intervention studies.
