Barron Associates Successfully Flight Tests UAV Sense and Avoid Technology
Barron Associates recently completed an Air Force Research Laboratory funded, three-year effort entitled Multi-Vehicle Unmanned Aircraft Systems Sense And Avoid (MUSAA). This program is a part of an ongoing larger effort by the Air Force to integrate unmanned platforms into the National Airspace System (NAS) and other theaters. Barron Associates developed a unique, modular, extensible, and maintainable conflict resolution and sensor fusion approach that allows the overall system to adapt to evolving regulations and practices as the NextGen NAS continues to be developed. Working with industry partners, Barron Associates is in the initial stages of commercializing the sense and avoid system as a “packaged product” and has recently completed initial experimental flight tests towards that end. Further information on the technologies developed under the MUSAA program can be found here.
