Barron Associates Receives NIH Grant to Develop Monitor for Oxygen Therapy
Barron Associates was recently awarded an NIH Phase I SBIR grant to develop the Respiratory Oxygen Adherence Monitor (ROAM) system to reliably assess long term oxygen therapy (LTOT) adherence. LTOT is associated with significant reductions in hospitalizations and improved quality of life in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Despite the benefits of LTOT, adherence remains a challenge in the majority of patients. The ROAM system will provide both an accurate method for measuring patient LTOT usage and motivational encouragement to promote improved adherence.
