Barron Associates Awarded Grant for Development of Blink-based Communication System
Barron Associates has been awarded a Phase II SBIR grant from the National Institutes of Health to develop a blink-based communication system. The system will allow amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) patients and others with severely restricted speech and mobility to communicate effectively even when they are not in front of a computer. Human participant tests involving ALS patients are expected to begin in early 2016. The effort is being led by Alec Bateman and Michael DeVore.
