NOAA UAS Funding for Tropical Storm Testing

Barron Associates was awarded non-SBIR follow-on funding to their NOAA Phase II SBIR. The funding is intended to support the delivery and testing of twelve tube-deployed UASs for tropical storm monitoring in Fall 2022 and Fall 2023. The WINGSONDE UAS is deployed from a P3 aircraft tube at 250kts and 10,000 feet into the eye of a tropical cyclone and will navigate autonomously into the storm wall to record pressure, temperature, humidity, and wind measurements.
